My precious

A conversation today with the husband, who will henceforth be known as Halfabee, on the drive to my parent's house -

Me - Of all the compilation/all-star/supergroup songs for aid in the 80's, "Do they know it's Christmas" is the only one that is actually a decent song. I mean it's 2012 and it is still in rotation in my 80's playlist. Don't you think it still holds up unlike the others?

Halfabee - Do you remember Hear N' Aid?

Me - I have no idea what you mean.

Halfabee tosses me the iPhone so I can youtube it, which I do, and then watch and listen with growing disbelief and horror.

Me - This can't be a real thing...

Halfabee - Fraid so.

Me - This is the most terrible song ever written! This is the most terrible song ever performed! Hahahaha this is great!

Halfabee - I'm surprised you haven't heard it, it was kind of a hit in its day.

Me (still listening to this thing ) - You are joking. This is the song a 16 year old boy writes a year after he gets his first guitar. You know, when he and his little friends start a band in the rec-room, and this is what they write. It is kind of awful and also precious, and you just think aww, bless.

Halfabee - Well at the time I liked quite a few of the guitarists in there...

Me - Oh my god who invited Night Ranger!

Halfabee - No no, Brad Gillis was a technically good musician.

Me - You know the name of the guitarist of Night Ranger? Hahahaha I love you!

Halfabee - Alright, I'm not talking to you anymore.

Me - There are far too many half-shirts going on in front of my eyes right now to take anything you say seriously.

  2. I'm so amused by how uncomfortable this makes me. I started the longest cringe of my life at the 0:23 mark.
